The Basic 511, with its carbon steel blade, is one of Morakniv's most used and appreciated craft knives. Keep in mind that carbon steel can be affected by moisture and corrosive environments, so be sure to make it a habit of wiping your knife and oiling the blade after each use.
This knife is designed and intended for Scandinavian construction workers. Morakniv's priority is a sharp and durable edge with a good grip, which means that the look of the spine isn't a high-priority feature. You are more than welcome to use any of these knives for your intended needs, but keep in mind that the spine will be "raw" (not ground) on most craftsmen and construction knives. Therefore, it's not compatible with a fire starter.
2024’s knife colours come from the Mora folk dress of the 17th century, which is one of the oldest-known Swedish folk dresses. This is where the green textile meets the classic Dala Red colour.
